Data Collection Procedures

 In current history, bullying has become one of the most serious challenges among the younger population. In order to collect all of the data necessary to demonstrate how bullying in schools affects young children, I must first obtain board clearance for my proposed study. Because the research will take place in two separate counties of West Virginia, I will choose 10 high school children and 10 middle school children at random whose parents have granted their permission. While parental approval is essential, I will allow the children to decide to participate in the research as well. Afterward, I will choose 10 high school children and 10 middle school children at random. It is worth noting that children from each location will be chosen from a variety of high schools and middle schools to guarantee that individual bias is minimized and the demographic context is broadened. After I have chosen all of the children from every demographic group, I will hold interviews with all forty children over two weeks.  Data Analysis

I will examine all of the data that each child gave after I have obtained all of the information that is required for the research from them during the interviews. Teenagers do not want to be labeled as bullies or viewed as the bad guys, thus they would not betray their friends for a research project. Another limitation I may encounter during my research is the number of questionnaire surveys distributed to children who took part in the research not being returned. Certain children could be hesitant to hand them in since they are a documented material that might be traced back to them.

Discussion

Society in general needs to be conscious of how various kinds of bullying impact children and what consequences they might have, including poor academic performance, mental health issues, and even suicide. Proposed Topic

The suggested subject for study is the impact of bullying in young children, whether they are in a classroom or doing online learning all around the planet. Bullying in schools has long been a problem, and it normally does not end in primary school. Bullying begins in primary school and can extend until or beyond high schoolers. Bullying has evolved through the years and continues to develop to the point that it is now more than just mocking one another or slamming one another around.

Participants

Participants would come from Kanawha and Wirt Counties in West Virginia. It will be interesting to know how much of a gap there is between a larger and a smaller county. Bullying is a problem no matter where one goes, so is there a distinction between the two? The population of Wirt County, West Virginia, is just 5,841 people. Although 99 percent of the population is Caucasian, some Black Americans reside in this county. Only in the Wirt region near the place I discovered, there are somewhat over a thousand children.

Another factor to remember when examining the participants is the inhabitants of the households that reside in the county since who is in the home is one of the reasons for being bullied. Kanawha County is just 45 minutes away and has a larger population of 1,767,860 people. There are multiracial residents in this county, with 78 percent white people, 15 percent Black Americans, 3 percent mixed-race residents, 2 percent Asians, and a 1% difference between Native Americans and other races. There are 10,451 non-family homes in this community, accounting for 47 percent of the population. Conversely, there are approximately 2505 households in Wirt with both parents, 217 households with just the man of the house, 302 single moms, 1215 non-family households, and 771 households living with other relatives rather than their parents (Wirt County, West Virginia population, 2021). Unlike Kanawha, there are no multiracial households in Tyler. As one can see, Wirt is a smaller county than Kanawha, so it is easy to imagine there would be less of a bullying problem.

Sampling Method

I will use a random sampling approach to determine who will participate, but I might already know which side the child is on, including bully or victim. Many bullies will not come forward and admit they are the bully because they expect special consideration, but speaking with the school’s principal might be a reasonable starting point. Certainly, if I were to do some sort of research on children under the age of 13, I would need approval from both the child and the parent to speak with them. This research study on Kanawha and Wirt counties would demonstrate how different and similar bullying can be by comparing a specific area to a larger area. It may also be applied to other states with similar populations.
