There is a need for the bill to be passed and enacted into legislation. That is because health care access is a concern for persons with behavioral and mental health concerns. There is non-parity in coverage, an issue that has plagued mental health for decades. The current state of affairs has seen the population having limited access to the required medical services because of cost and availability concerns (Qureshi et al., 2021). In fact, the demand for behavioral and mental health services is increasing. Unfortunately, a significant proportion of the population lacks access to affordable health care coverage. Even for those with coverage, there are gaps in accessing mental health services. Significant disparities also exist along demographic differences, such as ethnicity and region, thereby denying them the behavioral health services and support they need. The bill is a significant step in eliminating these barriers and expanding the full continuum of screening and treatment services, as well as prioritizing the integration of the health services into accessible settings.
