Conclusion

Mitral annular disjunction, which may be observed on cardiac imaging and is linked with ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death, seems to be prevalent in myxomatous mitral valve disease and mitral valve collapse. During presurgical imaging, the occurrence of mitral annular disjunction must be verified on a regular basis.
