My future Advanced Nursing Practice

My aspiration is to serve as a Family Nurse Practitioner, which involves autonomous or collaborative work in the delivery of care focused on the family. Considering the broad focus of family patients, in terms of healthcare services, FNPs offer a broad range of healthcare services whose central attention is on the family as a unit. These include promotion of health, prevention of diseases, direct healthcare services, and counseling services across the lifespan (“FNP Program,” n.d.).My future Advanced Nursing Practice

I believe that Nola Pender’s Health Promotion Theory relates most closely to the role of a Family Nurse Practitioner because of both its focus and the values it teaches. Pender considered health as a progressive and dynamic state in people’s interactions within the environment, as opposed to simple absence of disease in life. In promoting the health of human beings, the focus ought to be on increasing the patient’s level of general wellbeing. Pender identified personal experiences and traits, reasoning in behavior-specific terms, and behavioral outcomes as essential areas in nursing. The theory’s basis is that all individuals bear distinctive characteristics and experiences that influence future actions (Rankin, Stallings, & London, 2005). In this context, nursing can modify these variables in individuals’ lives, with the desired behavioral outcome being behavior aimed at promoting health and resulting in improvements in health, strengthened functional abilities, and greater quality of life across all stages of human development. As parts of the interpersonal environment that exerts influence on people across the lifespan, nurses serve as important influences in modelling behavior and offering assistance and support to preserve it across different stages of human development (Raingruber, 2013).My future Advanced Nursing Practice

The theory is significant for my aspired role because it lays out my responsibility in the family environment as providing situational influence that breeds commitment to and participation in health-promoting behavior and actualization of human potential across the lifespan through specific plans of action(Raingruber, 2013). The theory implies that I shall need to interact closely with and influence the lives of patients to stimulate behaviors that can assure lasting health and human potential across the lifespan. Essential factors in this context shall include nutrition and physical activity. My future Advanced Nursing Practice
