Importance Of Confidentiality In Hospitals
Confidentiality is essential when working with people as trust is a key to the helping process. If a service does not value confidentiality, clients will not share their intimate thoughts or feelings with the practitioner. Such a situation is a major obstacle when it comes to treatment of the patient. The article our group selected is “Confidentiality breach as the nurse tells teen’s family of secret abortion”.Importance Of Confidentiality In Hospitals
What I believe is that the nurse shouldn’t have said this to the teens relative, however, close the relation may be. The girl is underage and parents have the legal rights to know about it but the doctor should have done it officially rather than the nurse. If this situation was kept confidential and informed to the girl’s parents by the doctor then; the aunt wouldn’t have known, the girl would not have lost her family, and her mother might have reconsidered the situation. This event had not only caused a bad remark to the nurse but also to the hospital. People value confidentiality and any person who wants to seek the service of the hospital might have second thoughts. Such incidents can have a negative impact on the community. Teenagers with a situation like that of the girl might withdraw from seeking help for their problem which might affect the adolescent health of the entire community. However good the facilities of the hospital may be, if a patient feels that his privacy is being compromised then he or she would not go there, which will be a huge loss for the patient as well as the hospital.Importance Of Confidentiality In Hospitals
Considering all such effects I strongly suggest that strict rules and regulations should be placed with respect to confidentiality and hospitals and other organizations dealing with social work and public safety. What happens in the workplace should stay within the boundaries and should not spread throughout the community.Importance Of Confidentiality In Hospitals
