You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.Spheres of Political Action in Nursing Paper
Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
- The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.Spheres of Political Action in Nursing Paper
The Essay provides a discussion of the four spheres of political action in nursing and also an argument of their interconnection and overlapping. Policies are a course of action identified by groups or individuals to resolve a concern. Policies are intended to change and are specific because their identification and enforcement are to the public and government officials. The success of policy requires the backing of a political action as described and has four important spheres. They include the community, the workplace, the government, and the organizations.Spheres of Political Action in Nursing Paper
The four spheres of political action are the areas where nurses have an opportunity for political involvement. The different spheres have independent functions but work together to effect change (Mason, Leavitt & Chaffee, 2013). The workplace addresses the issues that affect jobs and the patient care. Nurses have a mandate of advocating for the issues that require a change in the workplace, and also, that pertains to patient care. They ought to be politically relevant to ensure that policies that regard their workplace are adequately addressed (Cameron, Ceci & Salas, 2011). The community is an important sphere because it addresses the issues that affect the community health. The community has a vivid understanding of the specific health needs of the population and requires to work together with the nurses to address them. Health care professionals work in collaboration with the community to identify the health needs and address the issues of concern through mitigation or control. The community health is a critical part of the work performed by the nurses since it affects the lives of the people directly. Changes in the healthcare policies require an involvement of the political leaders in which they either support or oppose the policy with certain reservations (Chaffee, Mason & Leavitt, 2013).
The organizations are a crucial part of the political action in Nursing by their role in addressing the issues which shape the nursing practice. There are different organizations that work in collaboration with the health care professionals in meeting the health care needs of the population. The organizations have professionals in different fields whose contribution to the health care sector is essential in enhancing efficiency.Spheres of Political Action in Nursing Paper The organizations have an important role in influencing the policy changes in health care as contributors and also as implementers. They also lobby for the political backing of the health care policies that they regard beneficial to them and the population they serve. The government has a role in addressing the laws, rules, and regulations that govern the nursing practice (Mason, Leavitt & Chaffee, 2013). As evident, the government is the main stakeholder in the health care-related changes due to their role in political action. Nurses ought to work closely with the government in their political action to effect changes in the nursing practice.
The four spheres are interrelated and overlapping because it requires the contribution of all of them to ensure that a political action in nursing is realized. For instance, an action to control obesity in my practice area which is a community hospital requires that I work closely with the community, the government agencies, and the organizations that have such initiatives. The workplace provides the physical facilities required, the community provides the data, the government provides the political backing to lobby for support and the organizations provides the required expertise. It is important to address the problem of obesity through a change of the existing policies.Spheres of Political Action in Nursing Paper
