In fact, the case study shows the unpreparedness of the nurse to work in the nursing setting and to perform her functions properly.Communication Process in Health and Social Care

In fact, the nurse has manifested absolute disrespect to her professional duties because she has not assisted the patient, when she needed her help urgently. In this regard, the age of the nurse could influence her behavior since, being a young and inexperienced in the field of nursing, she could fail to understand her full responsibility for the patient’s well-being (Limentani, 396). Instead, she relied on other health care professionals and believed that they are responsible for patients well-being and care. In fact, she apparently perceives herself rather as a student, who just observes the work of health care professionals and she cannot realize that it is her direct responsibility to perform functions of the nurse and assist patients when they need. In such a situation, the attitude of nurse to the patient was the ultimate manifestation of disrespect and failure to perform her professional duties as a nurse. In this regard, the mentor should take the responsibility and take actions of the nurse under control to prevent other cases of misconduct from the part of the nurse.

Thus, the lack of experience because of the young age of the nurse could become an important factor that provoked her unprofessional behavior in relation to the patient.Communication Process in Health and Social Care
