Dealing with Professional Burnout
As a professional who cares for other people, you might not realize that you have a professional burnout until this problem reaches its advanced stage. In relation to this fact, one needs to recognize his/her limits (Corey, & Corey, 2014). This paper identifies three ways that will be instrumental in my profession as I practice self-care and the way these strategies will prevent me from becoming a victim of burnout.Dealing with Professional Burnout
Strategies
The first strategy will be cognitive-related, and it will focus much of its attention on A-B-C theory. This strategy will help me to realize my cognitions so that I can understand the way I react to issues. In that process, the strategy will enable me to challenge self-defeating cognitions with an aim of developing thinking that is aimed at minimizing stressful moments in my life. The second strategy will be to stay alive at a personal level and at a professional level (Corey, & Corey, 2014). This means that I will acknowledge the fact that I may be limited in some areas as I provide care to other people; thus, I will not over-stretch my ability in whatever I do. The third strategy will be to strive for wellness in my life. I will achieve the goals of this strategy by taking care of all my needs without neglecting any of them. In order to do this, I will commit myself to a regular program of physical exercises and practicing self-care at a personal level. In addition, I will seek support from my peers and other people around me.Dealing with Professional Burnout
Preventing burnout
The first strategy will prevent me from becoming a victim of burnout by enabling me to give events the meanings that will not result to stressful moments. Although this practice will involve my effort, I will commit myself to ensuring that whatever I experience at a personal level will not be transferred to my profession. At the same time, I will ensure that my beliefs will not influence the way I interpret events (Corey, & Corey, 2014). By so doing, I will ensure that the way I interpret events will not result to stressful moments.
The second strategy will prevent burnout in my profession by ensuring that I do not develop imbalances in my personal life. Although this strategy will work almost the same way as the first strategy, it will ensure that I do not over emphasize on taking care of other people and forgetting to take care of myself (Corey, & Corey, 2014). It will also ensure that I do not over work and manage time poorly. The strategy will help me delegate duties as well as work in collaboration with my co-workers rather than over-stretching my potential in offering care. At the same time, it will help me manage time properly by acknowledging the fact that I need to rest when time for resting comes.Dealing with Professional Burnout
Lastly, the third strategy will prevent burnout in my profession by helping me strike a balance in whatever I do. By this, I mean the strategy will help me to have a private life free from my profession. At the same time, the strategy will help me to nourish myself by exercising self-care at a personal level and engaging in physical exercises regularly. This strategy will help me to realize that I cannot maintain vitality in my profession unless I find ways of practicing self-care at a personal level (Corey, & Corey, 2014). Accordingly, I will be prompted by this strategy to offer care to myself as I offer care to other people.Dealing with Professional Burnout
