Evidence-Based Project Proposal Essay

Below is what was posted for this final paper

I posted this in Ask Your Professor, too, but I am putting it here, too.

Question:  Looking for clarification on the final paper, may we use writing from steps 1-3 papers towards this final paper?Evidence-Based Project Proposal Essay

Answer:

Yes you can.  That is really the plan.  It is just too much to do all at once, especially in an eight week course.  You will incorporate portions of Parts 1, 2, and 3 into the final paper.  I have tried to give plenty of feedback on the papers and even made a few changes for some of you.  You can “accept changes” if you like what I did and use that in your paper.  I highly recommend making the grammar and punctuation changes as I suggested, and look over the entire portion you are going to use in the final to make sure you did not make the same error somewhere else where you need to change it.  (I did not make changes all the way through the paper.  I just made them at the beginning to show you what you needed to do throughout the paper.)Evidence-Based Project Proposal Essay

I should mention, too, that since you are putting some of your previous work that has already been submitted to Turnitin.com, it is possible that your previous work will be picked up by Turnitin.com and give you a higher similarity index.  In more advanced writing you are expected to not use your own words identically in another paper, but it’s fine with this paper.  And if the similarity index comes back high because of this, contact me and I’ll look it over.  It may be fine.

I’m hoping this doesn’t happen, but just in case it does I thought I should bring it up.

Introduction

This evidence-based project will examine the significance of observing hand hygiene for nurses in reducing the incidence of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). The hands of workers are avenues that facilitate the transmission of pathogens (Nekkab et al., 2017).  After implementing a hand hygiene program, health professionals will gain insight into strategies for improving adherence to hand hygiene guidelines to prevent the spread of nosocomial infections. The final project will cover the following aspects; overview of the problem, project purpose statement, background, and significance, the project’s potential impact on the anticipated results, PICO question, and key terms used for literature review. It will also critically appraise the literature, develop an EBP standard, and review the proposed project’s likely impact on nursing research, education, and practice. Overview of the Problem/Background

The overall incidence of nosocomial infections in the United States has increased by approximately 36 percent (Voidazan et al., 2020). The authors state that around 2 million people contract hospital-acquired infections every year in the US, and about 90,000 patients die from resulting complications. Besides increasing the mortality rates, nosocomial infections lengthen patient’s hospital stay and increase healthcare costs. Therefore, exploring effective interventions to reduce HAIs is vital. Hand hygiene has been identified as effective in preventing these diseases, but compliance has been low.

Project Purpose Statement

The purpose of this project will be to investigate whether observing hand hygiene by healthcare workers is effective in preventing hospital-acquired infections.

Potential Impact of the Project

Implementing a hand hygiene program will significantly reduce the rates of hospital-acquired infections and improve staff knowledge on the importance of adhering to handwashing guidelines.

PICO Question

Among healthcare workers (P), does observing hand hygiene (I) compared to no hand hygiene (C ) minimize the incidence of nosocomial infections (O)?Evidence-Based Project Proposal Essay

Literature Review

Key terms used to search for literature will be hand hygiene, hand washing, compliance, and hospital-acquired infections.

Implications

The project will be highly significant in minimizing the global burden of nosocomial infections and improving handwashing adherence.
