Nanotechnology Medicine Assignment
Drug delivered to specific cells, fibers with the diameter of less than 1,000 nm used for dressing wounds, and many other innovations are not science fiction anymore but they are the probable future of the medicine, nanomedicine. Thesis statement: Today, nanotechnology penetrates different fields and its applications grow wider and medicine is one of the fields, where nanotechnology has a particularly significant potential in terms of delivering drugs and treatment, diagnosis and implantation of organs and nanorobots but nanotechnology has to be adapted to medical needs.Nanotechnology Medicine Assignment
Drug delivery and nanotechnology in the treatment of patients
Today, there are drugs which can influence specific cells but the problem of the contemporary medicine is the delivery of those drugs since they cannot be delivered in the conventional way because they are destroyed by the immune and other systems of human body before they reach the target cell (Paddock, 5). Nanotechnology allows delivering the drug to the specific cell to perform its curing function.
Nanofiber may be used for dressing wounds (Paddock, 6). Such dressing of wounds is more efficient, especially when conventional dressing cannot cover fully the wound. Therefore, nanotechnology can be very helpful in the treatment of various health problems.
Diagnosis
Nanotechnology can be used for visioning and analysis of different organs and parts of human body which are impossible to examine at the nano level in the conventional way. Nanotechnology may be integrated into visioning technologies to help health care professionals to make accurate diagnosis (Paddock, 9). In fact, nanotechnology allows developing and implementing a lab-on-a-chip principle, when the diagnosis can be made on the ground of the information collected by the chip constructed with the help of nanotechnology. The chip contains the lab which conducts the essential analysis of the target cells or organs and delivers the information to health care professionals, while the latter make the conclusion on the diagnosis of the patient due to the use of nanotechnology.Nanotechnology Medicine Assignment
Implantation of organs and nanorobots
Nanotechnology can be used for implantation or dressing wounds as well as to conduct surgery and other medical manipulations with the help of nanorobots (Paddock, 10). Such nanorobots have already being created in terms of experiments. Nanorobots can help to perform functions which are not available to human hands. Therefore, health care professionals can use nanorobots to manipulate with surgical instruments during the surgery for instance. Similarly nanorobots may be also used for diagnosis to reach and examine parts of human body that cannot be examined with the human eye or other technologies available to the contemporary medicine (Paddock, 12).
Furthermore, nanotechnologies can contribute to the enhancement of the implant use in the contemporary medicine. In fact, nanotechnology can be used for the construction of implants and compliment the available implant material, while researchers (Paddock, 15) forecast that, in the future, nanotechnology will help to build implants. For instance, nanotechnology can help to reproduce or repair damaged tissue.Nanotechnology Medicine Assignment
Conclusion
Thus, nanotechnology has a considerable potential for the wide use in medicine. This technology has already started being applied to medicine but further researches and developments are needed to maximize its effectiveness in medicine.
