Part 2: Data collection plan

The presented needs assessment questions are closed ended with the responses based on a five-level Likert scale. The questions will be presented using a questionnaire delivered online to the participants. In this case, the participants are identified as college students who are recruited to complete the questionnaire since they have direct knowledge and are best able to provide accurate information. In addition, the questionnaire would be delivered through an online approach. This is a convenient approach that all the students while facilitating data analysis efforts as the generated data can be exported to a spreadsheet for further analysis (Billings & Halstead, 2020).

The needs assessment identifies the learners needs as informed in the five areas of: study skills, time management, expectations, working/living arrangements, and support system. The assessment collects data about the students perceived and unperceived learning needs. The perceived needs are reported in the questionnaire results as those that the students are aware of, and which they report as the gaps they need and/or want to improve. The unperceived needs are not reported in the questionnaire, but are indicated in class assignments, examinations and other assessments (Bastable, 2022)Needs Assessment Questions Assignment Paper.

With the results of the needs assessment, the teacher/instructor can develop strategies for creating a learning environment that supports the students in improving learning outcomes. First, results of the study skills assessment would reveal if the students are able to prepare their own notes or if the instructor should prepare notes for the students. With good notes, students are able to study away from the class and internalize the knowledge. Second, results of the time management assessment would reveal how well students manage their time, and if they require guidance on time management (Billings & Halstead, 2020). Third, results of expectations assessment can reveal if the students are motivated to learn and if they find the change in school environment overwhelming. This information is useful for creating course content that is more engaging. Fourth, results of living/working arrangements assessment can reveal if a student is able to keep pace with the course or if the pace should be changed. Finally, results of support system assessment can reveal if the student needs social support (Arnott, Paliadelis & Cruickshank, 2019)Needs Assessment Questions Assignment Paper.
