The opioid crisis is considered one of the biggest pandemics to hit the United States health care sector and research on how policy can aid in responding to patients with OUD and improve their health and care experiences. This deliverable is an assessment of the experiences of patients with OUD and policies affecting them as well as leadership suggestions to improve their health outcomes. Population Health Problem The practicum experience will explore the problem of opioid use disorder which is very common in the United States. OUD is defined as “the chronic use of opioids that causes clinically significant distress or impairment” (Dydyk et al., 2020).
