To address the issue of drug addiction, it is necessary to study the major causes of this problem. According to researchers, “addiction begins when the brain comes into contact with and addicting substance, such as drugs or alcohol”(DuPont, 2013, p. 4). The motivating factors include perceived needs and presumed causes. As a rule, drug addiction is caused by social and psychological factors, such as job stress, family problems, peer pressure, school-related problems, financial and economic problems, health problems, loneliness, and other factors (Barnard, 2006; DuPont, 2013). Bardo and colleagues (2011) state that “addiction risk is linked to a number of factors including genetics and adverse environmental events as well as behavioral traits such as reward sensitivity and impulsivity”(p. 63).
