Maggie is a female patient who reported to my clinical site with complaints of itching around the groin area. With a brief self-introduction, I addressed to the patient about the care plan and the value of a comprehensive medical assessment. Although the patient could answer the questions appropriately, she seemed reluctant when I asked to see the itching area. Before conducting the examination, the patient asked for medication to relieve itching. In a rational and compassionate manner, I conveyed to the patient the value of health assessment. During this assessment, the difficulties encountered included a lack of cooperation in engaging and delivering the care the patient required. It is essential to provide informed consent that outlines the examinations, procedures, and interventions that the patient may require. I let the patient recognize the benefits and risks of what would be performed and ensured that all questions were responded to (Bickley & Szilagyi 2017).
My Christian worldview encompasses establishing a supportive therapeutic connection, creating efficient communication, interpersonal abilities, proper balance and effective strategies to provide the patient with support during a stressful period, and placing limits would help me thrive in delivering treatment (Murphy & Walker, 2013). Human life is precious, and the basis of society’s moral vision is human dignity. There are many advantages for both patients and healthcare providers when healthcare providers approach their patients with empathy and compassion. Such benefits include more reliable diagnoses, improved health outcomes, and enhanced patient satisfaction. It is important to understand and appreciate other religious values and beliefs while upholding the Christian value of compassion and love for others in providing quality, culturally appropriate care.
